Visitation Policies

After creating a Visitation Session, please arrive at the Spartanburg Facility at least 10 minutes before your scheduled time.  
 
Additional time will not be added if you are late. 
 
SHOES AND SHIRTS WILL BE REQUIRED OF ALL VISITORS.  
The following attire will NOT be authorized to be worn by visitors: 
a. Tube tops, halter tops or tank tops; 
b. Swimsuits; 
c. Shorts or skirts that expose any portion of the person's posterior or are more than 3 inches above the knee; 
d. See-through clothing of any type; 
e. Sleeveless shirts with less than 3 inches width; 
f. Clothing with any form of profanity or sexually explicit language printed on the front or back; 
g. Clothing deemed to excessively accent the body, i.e., spandex, tights, leggings, etc. 
 
Visitors are subject to search for contraband or other unauthorized items. Visitors have the right to refuse a search; however, their refusal will terminate their visitation privileges for that day. Pat-down and strip searches are generally not authorized unless sufficient probable cause exists to warrant the search. 
 
No cameras, tobacco products, lighters, fire producing devices, mace, chemical sprays, firearms, or weapons of any type are allowed into the visitation area. Any visitor found in possession of such items will be subject to suspension of their visitation privileges as deemed appropriate by the facility. 
 
A parent or legal guardian must accompany any child under age 17 desiring to visit an inmate. Under no circumstances will any child under the age of 17 be authorized to visit an inmate without an accompanying parent or legal guardian. Children are prohibited fro running freely throughout the visiting area and are expected to remain seated in their assigned visiting area at all times. Failure to maintain children under control will result in immediate termination of the visit. 
 
Inmates released from the Spartanburg County Detention Facility will only be authorized social visits with a confined inmate if the released inmate is an immediate family member of the confined inmate.
